There was just one problem:Shields had a prior engagement for a bodybuilding competition he was involved in and would be unable to compete in FIGHT's return event. "It was unfortunate I wasn't there for the return. For 3 years, I have waited for FIGHT to return. It would have been nice to potentially leave as the first FIGHT Champion that night. Everything happens for a reason though," said Shields who went on to place 2nd in the competition he was training for that night.
Missing the tournament turned out to be a blessing in disguise for the man known as "True Talent." The training regimen for his competition ended up getting him into the best shape of his life. Coming back in the best physical condition of his career, Shields now only has one goal in mind: putting himself in contention for a FIGHT Pro Championship opportunity.
From top to bottom, the talent pool in FIGHT has never been better. From the young and hungry talent like Michaels Amaydo and Diaz to the more experienced talent like Robbie Paige and Tanner Reynolds, the competition level has never been higher. In his first night back, Bobby will face area wrestling standout, Brandon Scott.
"Brandon is a great talent and has really made a name for himself over the last several years," said Sheilds when speaking with fightprowrestling.com. " If he were facing anyone else on September 2nd, my money would be on him. But he's facing me and im coming back with a purpose. Im coming back with a goal. Im coming back with the intention of becoming the next FIGHT Pro Champion. On September 2nd, Brandon isn't Mr Xcellence. He is an obstacle that I will run my way through. All the respect in the world to the man, but September 2nd is the first step to getting that gold around my waist."
With all the talk from Bobby about becoming FIGHT Pro Champion, we spoke to the current champion Tanner Reynolds who did not seem worried at all about what Shields had to say. "Bobby should worry about winning match 1 before he starts staking claim to a championship opportunity," a nonchalant Tanner Reynolds stated earlier this week. "The guy walks in here and acts like im just handing out title shots for the hell of it. Theres a long line of athletes waiting for a shot at my championship. Your boy Bobby is at the very back of that line. He should probably worry about winning a match.. scratch that. He should worry about actually competing in one before thinking he's ready to face me. In due time, he'll have the opportunity to get ripped apart by the rabid, frothing, coyote that I am."
All trash talking aside, the return of Bobby Shields is exciting news for FIGHT Pro Wrestling. Will "True Talent" have a successful debut against Brandon Scott? The only way to find is to be there LIVE, when FIGHT comes to Chambersburg, PA on September 2nd. Tickets are available at www.fightprowrestling.com and at www.brownpapertickets.com. This is Original. This is Innovative. This is FIGHT.
