F.I.G.H.T is proud to announce the third match in the first round of the F.I.G.H.T Championship Tournament. This match will be a great one as Ring of Honor star "Brutal" Bob Evans takes on area standout "Wildman" Robbie Paige for an opportunity to advance in the quest to crown the very first F.I.G.H.T Pro Champion.
For Paige, this will be another step on the comeback trail. If you read our article last week, we spoke about Robbie Paige's ACL injury which sidelined him for over a year. While he has had matches in recent weeks, tournament competition is a different animal altogether. Conditioning, strategy, and in-ring ability play heavily in tournament competition. Factor in the FIGHTers Showcase matches in each round and you know that the winner will have to be at the top of his game on July 8th, something we know that Robbie Paige is capable of being when he is 100%. The question is, will Robbie Paige be 100%? Or will he still be nursing an injury?
If the answer is the former, we are in for a real treat as Robbie Paige was one of the more exciting athletes to watch in this area in recent memory. Beginning his in-ring career in 2005, Paige is accomplished every accolade there is to accomplish in this area. Capturing numerous championships in virtually every company he has competed in, the "Wildman" is nothing short of a success story.
Outside of the ring, Robbie is and has always been a man of class, constantly looking for ways to better not only himself but his peers in the wrestling industry as well. He is one of the most humble athletes in F.I.G.H.T history, never forgetting where he came from and always taking time to interact with his fans at shows. For the fans, that have followed Robbie's career, there is no doubt as to who they would like to see become the first F.I.G.H.T Pro Champion. If hes 100%, there is a very good chance that he will be hoisting a championship over his head at the end of the night. If he's 100%.......
His opponent is someone you want to be fully prepared to face, and that is "Brutal" Bob Evans. Evans, a 25 year veteran of the wrestling industry currently competes for Ring of Honor, home to some of the best wrestling in the world. In addition to competing, Bob is also a coach at the Ring of Honor Wrestling Academy and is tasked with training the next generation of wrestlers for in ring competition. This is a man who eats, sleeps and breathes wrestling at the highest level. Evans has seen and prepared for virtually everything in the wrestling business, which makes him a formidable opponent for someone even at the top of their game. How dangerous could this man be if he is competing against someone that isn't at 100% in an attempt to come back from a major ACL injury?
It will be tough to beat this man in a battle of endurance. Evans once competed in an Iron Week. What is an Iron Week you ask? An iron week is performing in a 60 minute Iron Man Match for 7 days straight against 7 different opponents, an impressive feat for anyone involved in the wrestling business. Evans will take the size advantage as well, but Robbie Paige has made a career out of defeating larger opponents. However, Robbie has never faced a larger opponent with the endurance that Evans brings to the table.
The two advantages that Paige will have over his opponent will be his speed and striking ability. It's no secret that Robbie Paige is a former martial artist. His striking ability is what will help him advance to the next round of the tournament. Speed has always been a key to every Robbie Paige victory. However, if The Wildman's leg isn't at 100%, all of that will not matter. One wrong move could re-aggravate that injury and put him back on the shelf, possibly permanently. Will this match be the beginning of a great comeback story? Or will this match end like a sad country song with a brutal defeat.
The only way to find out is to be there on Friday, July 8th, when F.I.G.H.T makes its long awaited return at GBoones Event Center in Boonsboro, MD. Tickets are available at GBoones restaurant and at www.fightprowrestling.com. Be there live for this special Live Broadcast Taping. This is original. This is innovative. This is F.I.G.H.T
